You may already be aware, but what3words application, android and apple versions, seem almost to be written with camping and caravan in mind.
The app covers the entire planet with 3m x 3m grid each square of which has a three word unique reference, far simpler than regular georeferences. The interface is in English but that hardly matters, references can use English,French,German...words for the reference.
So what? I hear you say You can break a leg, or set down for camping, in a forest - run the app to get your w3w reference, click on the send/share button to send to your friend... your friend taps on the link and immediately can see where you are, plus use google maps to take them there.
So, for example, I would like to invite you to join me parked on the beach at http://w3w.co/exposer.rendorme.secondaire
W3w is totally free, is good enough to have been adopted for postal addressing in one or two African countries where a post code is impractical!!
I posted in English as in French is rather stretching my skills. Perhaps someone with nothing to do might post a translation, but pls try w3w before doing so.
It would be wonderful if it could be adopted as the preferred system for FET.
